Match reports

All the match reports from last weekends friendlies are now on the site. Read about the First XI’s high scoring draw with Broomfield. The reserves won a close fought game 1 – 0 thanks to an Mbelo penalty.

Fullerton took charge of the 3s and despite the swanky new ‘Coaches Tactics Folder’ a 3 -1 defeat ensued. It’s described in his bizarre match report. Club chairman Tony Bent couldn’t save a new look 4th team from a 5 -1 reverse.

The inter club match between Howarth’s 5s and Mills’ 6s ended honours even in what two fairly balanced match reports describe as a close encounter.

First Day Fixtures

After much wondering, and a summer of running up hills, the new season is within touching distance! The SAL has now got a swanky new website, which can be found at www.southernamateurleague.co.uk which has anounced that the season shall kick off for the top 3 teams on 11 September, when Clifton White’s First XI will make the long trip to the salubrious environs of HSBC. Intermediate Division 3 Champions, The Reserves will host the predecessors of that title Old Westminster Citizens in the top game at the Racecourse, and John Morris will no doubt be looking to start with a positive result. The new management team of the 3rd XI will face Merton in the other home game.

We are awaiting announcements for the beginning of the season for the rest of the club, but with only 2 more weeks before the big kick off, now is the time to make yourself available to put yourself firmly into the thoughts of the Managers.
